IPL 2024: 'They are ruining us,' Bhuvneshwar Kumar on SRH batters posting high totals

April 23,2024

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar thinks that their batters are ruining the bowlers by posting sky-high totals every time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The comments came as SRH went past 250 on the third occasion this season - posting 266 in 20 overs, this time against Delhi Capitals on April 20.

Bhuvneshwar also acknowledged that this is the first time their batting is clicking nicely and the bowlers are happy to take a back seat.

"For so many years, this is possibly the first time our batting is clicking so much," Bhuvneshwar said.

"As bowlers, we are happy to take the backseat and let the batters do their work and happy do defend so many runs. Honestly, they are ruining us; if one of the games we score 180-200 mentally, it will be tough for us bowlers to defend those. But great to see the way they are batting," he added.

The bowler also admitted that defending plenty of runs comes with a caveat of going for many runs as well and the franchise accepts that.

"When you are defending those many runs, either of the things happen - you go for plenty of runs or you get teams out within 150. We accept the fact that when you defend so many runs, you can go for plenty of runs," said Bhuvneshwar.

Notably, each time SRH have posted in excess of 250, they have gone for runs too, conceding 246 against Mumbai Indians (target: 278), 262 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (target: 288) and 199 against Delhi Capitals.

Nonetheless, SRH, after win against Delhi, moved to the second spot on the points table with 10 points after five wins and two losses in seven games they have played. DC, meanwhile, continue to languish at seventh place with just three win after eight games.
