The idea for this festival has been initiated by Maharashtra’s former Textile Minister and current MLA Shri Subhash Deshmukh

On Saturday, 27th September, the festival will be coinciding with World Tourism Day. The festival aims to promote holistic development of tourism in Solapur district while highlighting its historical, religious, cultural, natural, and rural attractions. It is based on the concept of “5-P Marketing Branding” – Places, Personalities, Products, Placement, and Pollution-Free Environment.

• Places: Religious, cultural, industrial, and rural tourism destinations of the district.

• Personalities: Artists, researchers, progressive farmers, and entrepreneurs from Solapur.

• Products: Local cuisine, agricultural produce, and industrial creations.

• Placement: Generating maximum employment opportunities for youth.

• Pollution-Free Environment: Plantation drives and environmental conservation.

Shri Subhash Deshmukh said, “This tourism festival will provide a new platform for showcasing Solapur’s tourism potential, which will boost both rural and urban economies. It will raise awareness about tourism among school and college students, connect local citizens to the tourism sector, provide markets for local industries and self-help groups, generate employment, and ultimately brand Solapur tourism across the state and the country.”

He further added that this festival has the potential to become a role model for the entire state as it aims at the holistic development of the district.

The festival begins on 27th September with a grand inauguration. On 28th September, traditional women’s programs like Jhimma, Fugdi, Ukhane, and a Tree Tug-of-War will be held. 29th September is dedicated to children with a colourful Art Festival for Zilla Parishad school students. On 30th September, a Taluka-level workshop will be organised under the CM’s Samruddha Gram Panchayat Abhiyan.1st October will feature spiritual programs Bhajan, Bharud, Kirtan, and a Maha-Mangal Aarti. The festival concludes on 2nd October with tree plantation, a cleanliness drive, and a symposium.

Special efforts will be made to highlight the district’s religious sites, including the Sun Temple at Narayan Chincholi in Pandharpur taluka, the scenic temple at Kudal Sangam in South Solapur, and other ancient temples across villages. The Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis Memorial – a symbol of knowledge and social service – will also be an important highlight.

On the occasion of Tourism Week, visitors will witness the district’s rich heritage, traditions, culture, and natural beauty. The festival will feature cultural, traditional, and spiritual activities, organised in association with Chinchani Rural Agro Tourism Centre, alongside colourful programs like free bullock-cart rides, e-car tours, and magic shows. Visitors will also enjoy exhibitions, documentaries, local artworks, cuisine, and markets – making this a celebration of Solapur’s glorious past and bright future. The public is encouraged to share their experiences on social media.

Additionally, distinguished personalities from Solapur’s villages including entrepreneurs, senior officers, and litterateurs – will be honoured in their hometowns. They will be invited to adopt villages and share their vision, inspiring future generations and ensuring sustainable development at the grassroots.

Speaking about the economic potential, MLA Deshmukh said, “If 60 crore people visit Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela in one month, and if each spends even ₹1,000, the city generates ₹60,000 crore in revenue. I am speaking only of an average. With this perspective, I believe if 1 crore people visit Solapur, everyone will get work, and the economic turnover will grow enormously.”
