Salman Khan Firing: CM Shinde Speaks to Actor; 15 Police Teams Begin Search For Accused

April 15,2024

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke to Salman Khan over a phone call hours after two unidentified motorbike-borne persons opened fire outside the actor’s Bandra residence.

Shinde also held discussions with the Mumbai Police Commissioner and suggested increasing Salman Khan’s security. Top police sources said that appropriate security review is being done in view of the firing incident.

A case has been registered against the unknown persons in connection to the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence.

As many as 15 police teams have been formed to track down and nab the accused, sources said. Mumbai top cops, including Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Lakhmi Gautam and encounter specialist Daya Nayak arrive outside the actor’s home as they began their investigation.

Salman Khan was present in his home at the time of the incident, Mumbai Police said, adding that the bullets were fired in the air.

Notably, the actor had not received any threats prior to the firing incident.

Security has been beefed up outside Khan’s residence, where police officials and forensic experts were also seen conducting their probe.

“The security has been beefed up outside the actor’s residence at Galaxy apartments, and a forensic team is also present at the spot. We are checking the CCTV footage from the area and the surrounding locality to identify the accused,” the police added.

As per preliminary probe, police said that around three rounds were fired outside the Galaxy Apartments — Khan’s home — in Mumbai’s Banda area around 5 am.

Last year, Salman Khan had received a threat e-mail from Canada-based fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, who had openly declared that Khan was on his gang’s hit-list.

Following the e-mail threat, Mumbai Police had registered an FIR against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar and another person under IPC Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).

The Bollywood superstar was granted Y+ security after he reportedly received a death threat from the Bishnoi Gang.
