Sharad Pawar unhappy over Congress, Uddhav Sena declaring candidates: Sources

March 28,2024

Veteran Maharashtra leader Sharad Pawar has expressed displeasure towards his Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) allies -- the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) -- for declaring their candidates for Lok Sabha polls without discussion, sources told India Today TV.

In an internal meeting of his Nationalist Congress Party faction on Wednesday, Sharad Pawar spoke about his MVA partners not following "alliance dharma", sources said.

According to Sharad Pawar, the MVA parties should have declared their candidates together in a joint press conference.

The veteran leader also questioned his allies about declaring candidates when the seat-sharing discussions were still going on, sources said.

Now, sources said that the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) will field its candidates without discussion with its allies.

At the internal meeting of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) today, a discussion took place over 10 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. The party is likely to name its candidates on at least five seats today, sources said.

There is a rift within the MVA over four Lok Sabha seats -- Sangli, Bhiwandi, Mumbai North West, and Mumbai South Central.

On Tuesday, Congress stalwart Balasaheb Thorat paid a visit to Sharad Pawar at his residence to resolve the issue.
