‘EVM Mein Modi Ji Ka Hath…’: Congress MPs Attack PM Modi Over ‘Abki Bar 400 Par’ Remarks

February 07,2024

Congress leaders, including Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and KC Venugopal, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks regarding the BJP's expected seat count in the upcoming elections. PM Modi's statement about BJP winning 370 seats raised concerns among Congress MPs, who questioned how the PM could predict election outcomes in advance.

"How does Modi ji know before the elections that there will be 370 seats? If they have removed Article 370, it means that you will get 370 seats. I think there is some secret hidden in EVMs. It seems that Modi ji has some hand in the EVMs. If the country's leader makes such a statement before the elections, then people's right to vote will be protected properly... I have doubts about this," said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

He expressed skepticism about PM Modi's assertion, suggesting that there might be hidden manipulation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). He called on the importance of protecting people's voting rights and raised doubts about the fairness of the electoral process.

Another Congress leader, KC Venugopal questioned the need for elections if PM Modi claims to have secured 400 seats already. He reiterated the democratic principle that electoral outcomes should be decided by the people.

"There is no need for elections now. He has already got 400 seats so what is the point of elections? In a democracy, everything is decided by the people. We have full confidence that the people of the country will decide to change and remove this dictatorial government," he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Deependra Hooda remarked that while the BJP can promote slogans, the ultimate decision rests with the public.

National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah commented humorously on PM Modi's prediction and said, "He has a magical lamp, so what he says might come true."

During his address in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi expressed confidence in the NDA's electoral prospects, projecting that the alliance would secure over 400 seats, with the BJP alone winning 370 seats.

"A Ram Temple of Lord Ram was built which will continue to give new energy to the great tradition of India. Now the third term of our government is not far. Maximum 100 days left. The whole country is saying that 'Abki baar 400 paar'. I don't go into numbers but I can see the mood of the country. It will make the NDA cross 400 and BJP will get 370 seats," PM Modi said.
