Trade Talk: Manoj Kumar Enraged As BMCM Resorts To 'Buy One, Get One' Offer, Says 'What Is Wrong With Film Industry?'

April 15,2024

As the producers of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan look at an unstoppable down spiral in ticket sales they have proven the veracity of the adage, 'desperate times call for desperate measures.' The Sunday 'Buy-One-Get-One' announcement smacks of ruinous desperation.

"The minute you try to hard sell your production, the public knows something is wrong. Offering one ticket free for every ticket sold is the worst move the film industry could make to salvage their plummeting products. What is wrong with our film industry? Why are producers digging their own grave?” asks legendary filmmaker-actor Manoj Kumar.

Trade analyst Girish Johar added, "After Maidaan, now BMCM joins the dwindling Eid box office party to give an impetus to its ticket sales by offering BOGO. This will give some minor boost to its collections and give an opportunity to the weekend family audiences to encash in the same and watch the film. Further, the reviews and feedback of the film have been below par and this is one of the efforts to push the film on the masses and audiences."

But will the gambit work? No, says Bihar’s film exhibitor Kishan Damani. "I don’t think it will help because the reports are extremely bad for the movie. People have rejected it completely."
