Nagpur : Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies & Research (DAIMSR), recently held Aegis 2018. Aegis is the flagship event of The DAIMSR Centre for Entrepreneurship (E-Leap). The theme of Aegis 2018 was ‘Innovation at Workplace’, which aims at developing the spirit of Intrapreneurship among the different graduates and post-graduates of different colleges of city. In the first session the eminent personalities from different sectors - Manufacturing, Information Technology, Organized Retailing & Banking, were called as Guest speakers to give insights about the relevance of innovation in their respective field to the budding managers and entrepreneurs. Around 260 students attended the session. Workshop on ‘Ideation’ i.e. how to generate an effective business idea was attended by 35 budding entrepreneurs in the post-lunch session.

The programme started with Lightning of lamp at gracious P.P.Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Auditorium, Deekshabhoomi. Mr. Sunil Khujnare, Dy. Director, MSME with more than 29 years of vast experience was called as Guest of Honor, he introduced the different schemes of government related to funding of entrepreneurial projects and ventures to the students. He had given assurance to fund viable and feasible projects through MSME. Mr. Vishal Agrawal, Director, R.C. Plasto Tanks & Pipes, President of Vidharbha Industries association,

shared his entrepreneurial journey and stated examples of innovation in his own factory, processes and Marketing. At the same time, he expresses concern that everywhere about 90-95% of employees come with problems, not with the solutions. He cautioned the students, that if they want to grow in their professional life, whether in job for getting promotions or want to grow in their own business, it is essentially required to have problem-solving attitude that too with creativity.

Mr. Laxmikant Pathak, an alumnus of IIT Bombay and part-time MBA from University of Chicago, with more than 11 years of experience in USA with companies like Motorola, Qualcomm was called as second speaker for the session. He emphasized students to first understand problems in existing

situations and then come with creative and innovative solutions for their business. He also stated that, “whether you are doing job or working for your own business, it’s required to take up your assignments with full commitments and dedications”.

Mr. Vivek Thakkar, owner of Purti super Bazar and visiting faculty of different management colleges was called as third guest from retail sector. He narrated the importance of this type of entrepreneurial sessions, which actually has encouraged him to start his own business, when he was student. Answering

to one of the questions raised by the student, he stated, “You have to be self-motivated & go-getter, first discuss your ideas with your senior, and get confidence, then discuss your ideas with your teachers, further get boosted with confidence, then make some-one as your mentor or guide, investor who can

understand you and trust your ideas, and who is of the same waive-length”.

Mr. Sudhakar Atre, Ex-Faculty, Management Development Institute, Bank of India Mumbai, with 38 years of active involvement in various aspects of banking was called as the Guest speaker from banking sector. He brief students about the different career opportunities in banking sector. Few examples of different innovative techniques in banking processes or acquiring customers, used by him or his colleagues were also narrated by him. He further stated, “You need to very Smart & cautioned as the percentage of NPA’s in loan is increasing day by day”. Workshop on ‘Ideation’ was taken by Dr. Mujahid Siddiqui, Incharge - The DAIMSR centre for Entrepreneurship (E-Leap). 35 budding entrepreneurs attended workshop and were given participation certificate also. Workshop started with understanding in practical sense, and then participants were divided into 5 groups based on their skill-sets of Technology, Buyers, Marketers and Critics. An exercise – ‘Innovation through Brainstorming’ was performed where the participants learn to come with different ideas for a particular business problem. Then they practiced ‘SCAMPER’ (S- Substitute, C- Combine, A-Adapt, M- Modify/Magnify, P- Put to other Uses, E- Eliminate, R- Rearrange) – which is a

creative & more structured technique for generating new business idea. At the end all participants were confident to start their own ventures as now they can generate effective business ideas through ‘SCAMPER’ technique. Aegis is the flagship event of Entrepreneurship Cell of DAIMSR (E-Leap), which has been established by a group of entrepreneurial students of the Institute. It aims to bring together Budding Entrepreneurs, Academicians, Venture capitalists, Investors, Industrialists, Researches and the students on a common platform and share their endeavors and experiences.

Dr. Mujahid Siddiqui, Co-ordinator E-Leap, stated that, “We would like to change the perception of Employment in young minds. They should understand and be aware of the importance of Intrapreneurship and Innovation at their workplace. At the same time they should leave up the false expectation of 9-5 or 6 of job and make up their mind for dedication, commitment and belongingness towards their organization”. The programmed was well organized by E-Leap members, under the guidance of Dr. M.J.Siddiqui, Prof. Ajay Gidwani (Faculty Advisory Members E-Leap) and Alumni Mr. Ankit Abad, (Co-Founder ADMAMPS Consultancy Services, Started under E-Leap). Vote of thanks was proposed by Alumni Ms. Nikita Lahoti (Founder Nakhre, started under E-Leap).
