MMCC Pune beat Damodar College Goa and DNC College Nagpur in Pune to enter the National Finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019

From a scintillating season in 2018, Red Bull Campus Cricket returns to bowl over budding cricketers in the country. Taking the competition up one more notch, the global T20 college cricket tournament has added two new cities (Dharamshala and Meerut) to its roster and will witness the highest participation ever over 300 colleges across 30 cities.

Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019 city qualifiers took place from 3rd February to 12th March across 30 cities in India- Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Indore, Pune, Vadodara, Goa, Mumbai represent the West Zone

After the city rounds and the city eliminators, Goa, Pune and Nagpur city champions played 2 matches each at Vision Cricket Academy in Pune on 3rd and 4th May 2019 where last year’s National finals winner Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Commerce (MMCC) Pune beat Damodar College Goa and DNC College Nagpur. The other regional qualifier took place between Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Indore in Ahmedabad on 29th and 30th April 2019 where LJ College Ahmedabad qualified for the National Finals via a superior net run rate.

MMCC Pune beat DNC College Nagpur in the first match by 127 runs. DNC College Nagpur won the toss & chose to Bowl first. Match Scorecard: MMCC Pune - 267/5(20 Overs) DNC College Nagpur- 140/6 (20 Overs) Yash Nahar from MMCC Pune won Man of the Match for scoring 95 runs 45 balls which included 6 four and 8 sixes.

MMCC Pune beat Damodar College Goa in the first match by 7 wickets. Damodar College Goa won the toss & choose to Bat first. Match Scorecard: Damodar College Goa - 136/5(20 Overs) MMCC Pune - 140/3 (14 Overs) Shubham Nagwade from MMCC Pune won Man of the Match for scoring 46 runs 19 balls  that included 3 fours and 5 sixes.

DNC Nagpur beat Damodar College Goa by 7 wickets but failed to make it to the National Finals of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2019.

The top two teams from each zone will compete in the National finals, where the teams will play in the knockout rounds of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals respectively. The National winner will then represent India in the Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship 2019. Past winners from India that have gone on to represent the country at the World Championships are Rizvi College, Mumbai; DAV College, Chandigarh; Swami Shraddhanand College, Delhi; and MMC College, Pune.

Shubham Nagawde, part of MMC College, the National finals winner of last year’s competition said,In India, the love and passion for cricket is incomparable to any other sport. Red Bull Campus Cricket is a way to discover raw talents while testing them in different matches at the national level and finally pitching them into international games to polish these talented individuals and bringing the best out of them. It has been a proud moment for me to have had experienced this and I would like to thank Red Bull for giving us the much-needed wings. Now, with Rajasthan Royals coming on board, Red Bull Campus Cricket is a platform offering potential player trials to campus cricketers like me and groom India’s raw talent which will eventually help Indian Cricket.”

Red Bull Campus Cricketing stars like KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Shradul Thakur and Niroshan Dickwella have represented their country at the international level. Cricketers like Manan Vohra, Siddhesh Lad, Himanshu Rana, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Anukul Roy, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ricky Bhui have also reaped the benefits of Red Bull Campus Cricket by earning IPL contracts. Red Bull athlete KL Rahul was the top scorer in the 2013 edition of the competition and credits RBCC to his success at the domestic and international level.
