Mumbai : Maharashtra’s Anti-Corruption Bureau head Sanjay Barve has has takenover as new Police Commissioner of Mumbai. Mr. Barve has taken the charge of Mumbai police commissioner for outgoing Police Commissioner Subodh Jaiswal.

Joint Police commissioner (Law and Order) Deven Bharti, Joint Police commissioner (Crime) Ashutosh Dumbare, Joint Police commissioner (Transport) Amitesh Kumar, Joint Police commissioner (Administration) Santosh Rastogi and others police officers were present on this occasion at Mumbai police head quarter. The outgoing Mumbai Police Commissioner Subodh Jaiswal has been promoted and appointed as Director General of Police. He was replaced by Mr. Barve.

IPS Mr. Barve is a 1987 batch police officer. He was earlier appointed as the director general in the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Maharashtra police.

His first appointment was in the rank of assistant police commissioner at the Nagpur Police Commissionerate. After that he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Mumbai Police Force and Additional Director General of Police, General administration, Railway and State Intelligence department. He had been posted as the Police Inspector General of the State Reserve Police Force. Mr. Barve also discharged his duty as Police superintendent in Wardha district and Police Commissioner in Solapur district
