Khan Academy Launches Free AI Teaching Assistant ‘Khanmigo’ in Marathi for Teachers in Maharashtra

Mumbai, December 9, 2025 — Khan Academy India today announced that Khanmigo, its AI-powered teaching assistant for teachers, is now available in Marathi. With this launch, teachers in Maharashtra can access Khanmigo in Marathi, alongside existing support in English, Hindi, and Odia — all completely free.

Khanmigo was first made available to Indian teachers in November 2024, offering AI-driven tools to help with lesson planning, activity creation, and classroom engagement. Since then, it has been adopted by thousands of teachers across the country to reduce prep time and focus more on student learning.

Swati Vasudevan, Managing Director of Khan Academy India, said: “Teachers in government schools are often stretched thin with academic and administrative responsibilities. Khanmigo helps ease that pressure, acting as a supportive teaching companion. Launching it in Marathi is part of our broader commitment to serve educators in the languages they use every day — and we aim to expand to even more Indian languages in the months ahead.”

Maharashtra uses Khan Academy across all government schools. Teachers can now access Khanmigo by logging in to their Khan Academy teacher account and selecting Marathi as their language. Today, more than 10 lakh students across govt. schools in Maharashtra are registered on Khan Academy platform across 30,000+schools, with over ~1.8lakh students actively learning. This programme is supported by Shell and Cognizant Foundation, helping expand access to high-quality Maths and Science learning resources across the state.

The global rollout of Khanmigo, made possible through Microsoft’s support, reflects Khan Academy’s mission to bring transformative, free educational tools to classrooms around the world. Now available in over 40 countries, Khanmigo is helping educators use AI meaningfully and responsibly in teaching.
