Radhika Apte To Mark Her Directorial Debut With Action-Fantasy Film Kotya

After establishing herself as a bankable actor, Radhika Apte is all set to explore new avenues of entertainment. She is all set to mark her directorial debut with an action-fantasy film, Kotya. It will be available in Hindi and Marathi languages.

The announcement was made at the CineV-CHD Market lineup, which also features 22 other projects by established filmmakers. Variety reported Kotya as a “Hindi/Marathi action-fantasy following a young migrant sugarcane cutter who gains superpowers after a forced medical procedure and uses them to free her family from debt.” The film will reportedly be produced by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane. More details about the project will be unveiled as the shoot progresses.

Apart from Kotya, other films in the lineup includes notable names from the film industry such as Hansal Mehta, Nandita Das, All We Imagine As Light star Kani Kusruti, The Sky is Pink director Shonali Bose, and Eeb Alley Ooo! creator Prateek Vats.

Meanwhile, Radhika Apte was recently seen in Sister Midnight. It stars her as a woman who is coerced into an unhappy arranged marriage. The film was premiered at Cannes Film Festival and received a BAFTA nomination in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer category. It was also lauded by critics and select audience. The actor also earned a BIFA nomination for her performance in the film.

Radhika boasts of an illustrous filmography. She has been a part of films and shows such as Padman, Andhadhun, Monica O My Darling, Ghoul, Badlapur, Parched, Lust Stories, and several others.

While that’s all about her professional life, on the personal front, Radhika Apte recently gave birth to her first child with husband Benedict Taylor. She announced the same by posting a photo of herself breastfeeding her baby while attending her first work meeting post delivery. The photo also hinted her return to work after a brief maternity break.
