NAVI MUMBAI: A helicopter ferrying NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and party state president MLA Jayant Patil, along with security staff, made two failed attempts at lifting off when trying to take off at a playground in Chiplun, Ratnagiri district on Sunday.

The helicopter managed to descend and touch down back onto the temporary helipad helipad safely after both attempts. According to sources, the aircraft was overloaded. Pawar and Patil were in Ratnagiri to attend the inaugural ceremony of Washishti Dairy Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition.

Chiplun tehsildar Pravin Lokare said: "Pawar had flown in with his personal assistant. After the event, they were joined by Patil and his security staff."
