Actor Deven Bhojani who reunited with SRK on Rajkumar Hirani’s 'Dunki'reminisced about working with Shah Rukh Khan on a film in the 1990s, just as SRK was on the verge of becoming a superstar However, Deven admitted that he was initially apprehensive about working with Shah Rukh in the '90s due to hearing some not-so-nice things about him.

In an interview with Laksh Maheshwari, Deven Bhojani shared his memories of working with Shah Rukh Khan. He recalled that it was right after 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar', and he had been cast as Shah Rukh Khan’s friend. Deven mentioned he had heard that Shah Rukh was a newcomer with an attitude and that he had made some not-so-nice comments about Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan in interviews. On the first day, Deven introduced himself to the other actors but was hesitant to approach Shah Rukh, fearing he might respond dismissively. Therefore, Deven decided to keep to himself.

Deven Bhojani recounted an incident when Shah Rukh Khan approached him during their first film together. According to Deven, Shah Rukh greeted him by saying, "Hi, I’m Shah Rukh. You were so good in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar." Deven was pleasantly surprised that Shah Rukh knew his name and later learned that Shah Rukh had liked the film so much that he asked director Mansoor Khan for the names of all the cast members.

The film they worked on together was shot in 1994 but wasn't released until 2004. However, they reunited for Dunki, which premiered in 2023. Deven mentioned that Shah Rukh was warm and friendly during the Dunki shoot, and they even reminisced about old times. Initially, they addressed each other as "Shah Rukh" and "Deven," but Shah Rukh started calling Deven "Deven sir" on the second day.

When asked about it, Shah Rukh explained that everyone else was addressing Deven as "Deven sir," so he didn't want to be the odd one out. However, Deven insisted that Shah Rukh didn't need to call him "Deven sir" since they were old friends, and he wasn't calling Shah Rukh "Shah Rukh sir" either. Despite this, Shah Rukh continued to be warm and friendly throughout their interactions.
